The designer on her love affair with fragrance, her new scent, Sublime, and the quiet power of Kendall Jenner.

Before Tory Burch was Tory Burch, world-renowned fashion designer, she was Tory Robinson, her parents’ “little scientist.” As a child, she was mesmerized by scents, particularly those of her mother (Yves Saint Laurent Paris and Chanel N°19), father (Guerlain Vetiver and Jacques Fath Green Water), and grandmother (Jean Patou Joy), and she’d constantly get into their stashes. “They called me the little scientist, because I was always mixing and matching,” Burch tells ELLE.com over the phone. “I would even grind up flowers from the garden, put oil in [them], and try to create fragrances,” she adds. It seems it was always in the cards for the businesswoman to curate her own eponymous fragrance line, and today marks the launch of her latest scent, Sublime.

Since launching Kylie Cosmetics, the youngest Kardashian-Jenner has dropped collections in partnership with almost all of her famous fam, from an epic Kris Jenner-themed line to two collections with Khloé. However, Kendall has been MIA from her little sis’s beauty line — until now.

Kylie gave fans a peek at the entire Kendall x Kylie collection via her Instagram Stories on Saturday; the line is clearly inspired by Kendall’s simple, classic beauty style. “Wow wow wow. Can’t believe i’m finally announcing my next collection for @kyliecosmetics … and it’s with my SOULMATE @kendalljenner! The KENDALL X KYLIE collaboration is launching on the 26th! We have been dreaming this up for quite some time so i hope you guys love it!” Kylie wrote on Instagram, sharing the official promo video of the sisters looking glam.

Kendall Jenner was 14 years old when she decided she wanted to become a model. Actually, she’d been mulling it over since the age of seven, but it wasn’t until her teens that she decided to take action. Jenner did what any enthusiastic teenager with some paper, a colour printer and stapler would do – she compiled a homemade booklet of DIY snapshots (giving it the title Kendall Jenner Modelling Photos) and presented it to her parents. Most mums would have taken one look and put it out with the recycling, but Jenner’s mum – the ultimate ‘momager’ Kris Jenner – took her second youngest daughter seriously, telling the audience of their hit reality TV show Keeping Up With The Kardashians: “If this is what Kendall really wants to do then I’m on board and I’ll get the word out.”
